EXCLUSIVE: The 411 On The Jennifer Hudson Family Murder Trial (DETAILS)

The family continues to greive 31/2 yrs later

On the morning of Oct. 24, 2008, three and half years ago, Academy Award winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson got the shock of her life when her mother, brother and nephew were killed in a triple homicide that made national headlines and left the Chicago songstress heartbroken.

The suspect is Jennifer’s sister Julia’s estranged husband, William Balfour, who is currently on trial for the triple slayings and has pleaded not guilty, but faces life in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors say Balfour committed the murders in a jealous rage because Julia had a new boyfriend. It has been three years since the Hudson family lost their loved ones, but the pain remains and the trial is on
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the Hudson family through this difficult time.

The 411:

Balfour is on trial for shooting Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson; brother Jason Hudson; and her 7-year-old nephew, Julian King on Oct. 24, 2008.
Balfour was arrested hours after the bodies of Donerson and Jason Hudson were found in the family's home. Julian's body was found days later in a stolen car from the family home.
Jennifer Hudson told police that there had been rumors that Balfour had stolen her brother's .45-caliber pistol, which was later determined to be the murder weapon.

Julia told police that she saw Balfour on the morning of the murders near the family home. She said that he was angered when he saw balloons from her new boyfriend.

Balfour claimed to have ridden the train to a girlfriend's West Side apartment on the day of the slayings, but detectives were able to determine that he was lying.

On the morning of the murders, J-Hud texted her mother from Florida and told police that when her mother failed to respond, she knew something was wrong.

J-Hud told police in several interviews that the family had objected to her sister's relationship with Balfour and knew of his criminal past. Balfour was a member of Chicago's Gangster Disciples.
