Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 8/5/2012
Rick Ross' "God Forgives, I Don't" takes #1 almost 200,000 units ahead of #2. La Coka Nostra's "Masters Of The Dark Arts" lives up to its name, as Aer offers a successful "Bright Side."
As predicted, Rick Ross scored a #1 with God Forgives, I Don't. The Miami, Florida rapper's latest Def Jam Records release is his fourth overall #1, after 2010's Teflon Don missed the mark at #2.
Hardcore Hip Hop collective La Coka Nostra also debuted on the Top 200. Ill Bill, Slaine, Danny Boy and DJ Lethal's second studio album, Masters Of The Dark Arts followed the first's charting appearance three years ago. With members from Non-Phixion, House Of Pain and Special Teamz, the latest lineup no longer includes Everlast. READ MORE

Rick Ross & Swizz Beatz Give Away Reeboks & iPads At Carol City High School
Rapper Rick Ross and producer Swizz Beatz made a surprise appearance at Carol City Senior High School, in Carol City Florida.
The rap star appeared at his alma mater, where he donated iPads to the high school, for students to use.
“We commend Rick Ross for giving back to Miami Carol City Senior High School. By doing so, he is setting a wonderful example for our students and community,” said Principal Mr. Dunn.
Most of the iPads donated by Rick Ross will be used for students to complete their college applications.

Annoyed by a fan's actions, Kanye stops to the show and tells said fan to "chill out."
During Watch the Throne's concert in Paris, France, Kanye West stopped the show. Before going into his "Flashing Lights" solo song, the Chicago emcee asked for music to stop. He directed his attention towards a fan who was apparently pointing a laser at him. He angrily instructed the fan to stop pointing the laser.
"Don't fuck up every body's show," Kanye yelled into the microphone. "It's not a fucking game

Wtf You Say? 5 Overused Rap Phrases
The thing about rap is…it’s trendy. Actually, it sets most of the trends that the rest of the world follows. So when something catches on in Hip-Hop, it usually gets run through the ringer by the artists and fans first – right before the media puts it on auto-repeat, and then Corporate America bastardizes it in commercials with grandmas and little suburban kids. Remember “bling?” Sigh.
Rap lyrics these days are ripe with repeat references – some of them you know, and admit it, some of them have left you scratching your head. A common thread in these popular phrases is their connection to the “baller” lifestyle. That might be the reason the rest of us little people have to live vicariously through our favorite rappers when they spit new slang or name-drop new brands.

Las Vegas, NV (May 16, 2012) -- On one of the many days Leo Dunson wanted to die, the Iraq veteran put a gun to his temple and pulled the trigger. The loaded weapon misfired. For the troubled formersoldier, it was another inexplicable failure, like his divorce or inability to make friends after returning from the war.
In a Las Vegas recording studio, Dunson rapped about his life: “What’s wrong with me? Got PTSD. These pills ain’t working, man, I still can’t think.”
